It's a Bird, It's a Plane

We just can't let classics like this sink into obscurity anywhere but here.

Dwip: Whump. Jetliner into the office buildings again.
Dwip: Oh wait, those were schools. Sorry.
...
Dwip: OK, THAT was a jetliner into office buildings.
Dwip: But it was like, a jetliner into your local Safeway. I think my pilots are all retarded terrorists.

Hi. Sign Me Up.

I just found out (I'm a little slow these days) that Billy Corgan is playing a show in Chicago on my birthday. So not only is it the closest show to me, it's on my birthday. Did I mention it's on my birthday? Road trip? Dare ka?

Of other interests, the Bassman 50 is working splendidly and my neighbors probably know exactly what it sounds like. School Rumble was funny, though not as funny as Azumanga Daioh like everyone says. Norton SystemWorks is the devil. Emo lyrics are easy to write - just say something sad that doesn't make sense. My rear surrounds no longer pick up the country station and I can listen to stuff in full surround again. Being tired is overrated.

Also, let us ponder the wisdom of forgetting to add your weapon bonus to your attack dice pool. It is not good. Don't do it.

After Years of Waiting

Show tonight went pretty well. First two bands where [shrug]. The tourers were pretty good. Not a big ska fan, but they were still good.

What's this post all about, you ask? Earplugs. I love my earplugs.

That's it.

I'm doomed.

Moto, Moto!

Okay, I'm not really going to be a novelist, it just sounds a lot better than "autistic retard constantly lost in own fantasy world"

Fansubbing Ain't Hard

It just takes forever. Nine hours to sub a 23 minute clip. Nine hours. That's nine hours I'll never get back. But at least I did well. See, we got these censored episodes from a certain fansub group - they didn't censor them, but they were censored nonetheless. Luckily, they are one of the better subbing groups out there in the mainstream right now. But then we found the uncensored versions on a website somewhere, but with completely craptastic English subs (the Lithuanian ones are supposed to be spot-on for whatever good that does us). So I get this idea... I'll get the script for the episodes from the good sub group, and rebuild the subs on the bad sub group's version. Thankfully, the joys of Matroska make this sort of thing possible. I must say, I think I did a pretty bang up job for a kitbash. No timing errors, no spelling mistakes, I even got non-standard placement to work properly. Why couldn't they do it on Azumanga, we wonder? That may, in fact be a project for another day since I don't have to rewrite the script there, just change placements. Teehee. At least we hope. If they're .srt format, I'll have to learn that.

Anyway, here's some bash.org fun. Sounds like something I'd do to my friends.

We're almost done moving. The new place is not exactly a step up, rather several steps down, but what can you do on short notice? Choke to death on the gas leak and stale cigarette smoke laden carpet, that's what. My "room" is not real great, and I probably won't be using it for a while.

Also, I finally wrecked my DSL connection. Figured out what the hell was causing all my problems, found a solution, and obliterated it. I will now run Battlefield servers again, and the world will rejoice in the sound of CAR-15 and No.4 rounds blasting its collective ears. Or at least Dwip and I will. Maybe Clyos too.
